Tempe, Tempe Train Station, Tempe

You will never look at weeds the same way after taking part in this outdoor workshop.

Take a walk in the park and discover the edible and medicinal plants that grow around us with Diego Bonetto. Learn about the role weeds play in repairing and building soil. Find out how they have been used for food, craft and natural remedies. Discover ways to safely harvest from the urban wild and enrich your diet with vitamins and minerals.

Diego Bonetto is a weed forager, artist, storyteller and an expert on identifying the nutritious plants that grow under our feet that most people call ‘weeds’.

Each participant will receive a booklet detailing 16 of the most common wild edibles of Sydney. People can come on the day with samples of weedy plants they have in their garden for possible ID.

The walking trail for this workshop will be on grass covering uneven ground.

Starting point of tour is the carpark of Tempe train station.

Bookings essential as places are limited. Due to COVID restrictions, all attendees without an Eventbrite ticket will be turned away. Please register for your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/wonderful-wild-weeds-walk-tempe-tickets-153753503869?aff=ebdssbdestsearch

This is in place of the postponed event that was part of the Cooks River Alliance Wurridjal Festival celebrating mullet season in the Cooks River throughout March.

The Cooks River Alliance is a partnership between local councils Bayside, City of Canterbury Bankstown, Inner West and Strathfield which are working together to improve the health of the Cooks River.
