Learn from proud Wiradjuri woman, astrophysicist and science communicator Kirsten Banks about the night sky and Aboriginal astronomy.
Kirsten Banks has an undeniable passion for all things space and astronomy. She grew up on Ku-ring-gai country in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, always looking up to and loving the sky.
Kirsten is a renowned science communicator, and loves to share her passion for space and astronomy. She speaks regularly at Sydney Observatory, has presented at numerous conferences, been featured at TEDx and on the ABC, and presents about Aboriginal Astronomy during and outside of NAIDOC Week and National Science Week.
She’s also a published academic and PhD candidate.
In this event she will share her knowledge of astrophysics and the rich astronomical heritage of Indigenous Australians, who for thousands of years have looked to the sky for stories and lessons about everything from hunting and navigating to connecting with ancestors.
