Mudcrabs members stand behind a huge pile of plastic bottles pulled out from the river

Join the the Mudcrabs rid the Cooks River of a whole lot of rubbish!

What to bring:

  • Gumboots or old shoes (and clothes) that can get dirty are highly recommended as it can get very muddy if you’re collecting in the mangroves!
  • Please wear “non-fluffy”/”non-sticky” clothing. This will prevent plant seeds sticking to you so we don’t spread weeds
  • Water bottle
  • Wear a hat and sunscreen

Where: Meet at the park at the end of Close Street, Canterbury. Limited street parking available in Close Street. More street parking available in nearby surrounding streets. A few minutes walking distance (300 metres) from Canterbury Station.

We will provide litter pickers and rubbish bags. Please bring your own gloves for attending the clean up.

All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18.

Getting there:

 

Public Transport

This bushcare site is a short 5 minute walk from the Canterbury train station. It can also be accessed via the 353T or 78T3 bus routes via Canterbury Rd. The bus stops are a short 2 minute walk from the park. For timetables and more info, check out transport.info.

Active Transport:

The site is conveniently located along the Cooks River Cycleway. Visitors can walk, cycle or scoot from Canterbury train station to the south east. Please note, the cycleway underpass under Canterbury Road is still under construction

Car:

Very limited parking is may be available on Close Street. As this street is currently used for metro construction vehicles, we recommend taking public transport or walking along the river.
